A Very Special Couple
A massive thank you to Michael and Joan Bushnell. It was Michael's 70 th birthday recently and he asked all of his friends to make a donation to Sara's charity rather than buy him a birthday pressie. What a fabulous gesture, Michael Birthday Pressie's raised €90 for Saras Hope Foundation.
Donation of £1000
Once again the fantastic Malcolm and Christine Bolton in conjunction with Caistor & District Lion Club presented The Saras Hope Foundation with a cheque for £1000. This was done at the Valentines Mr and Mrs Competition fundraising evening at The Cotton Club on 17th February and presented to David Culling – chairman of the charity.

David Bowman the Question Master and Compere for the Mr & Mrs competition at the Cotton Club in Georgioupoli, performed to his usual high standard. Bringing a touch of comedy and knowledge to this great evening (and a glorious pink tie!) The eventual winners – with a perfect score, were Brian and Chris Pound.
Dimitri and his staff put on a fantastic buffet and Karen Clay provided tunes to throw some shapes to after all the shenanigans were done.
A huge thanks to all who supported this event and raised €110 on the night.

Call to Calcutta
A sincere thank you to our special friend and a loyal supporter of the Foundation Jean Hannell who has recently published her fascinating story of her time working with Mother Teresa in her children's home in Calcutta. It really is a remarkable read. Jean has kindly pledged to make a donation to Saras Hope Foundation and the Missionaries from every book sale

Valentines Night at Blue Bay Tavronitis
Featuring Four Goats and a Banjo and Mr and Mrs game
A fantastic evening at The Blue Bay , Kolymbari, was had by all who attended.
"Four Goats And A Banjo" entertained everyone with a mix of country and folk music, whilst the Blue Bay staff kept everyone happy with a beautiful meal and plenty of wine.
A Mr and Mrs competition hosted by John and Alison Roberts was enthusiastically entered into by five couples- the eventual winners being Eric Whibly and Suzanna Scott-Drew.
A fantastic raffle - supported by many local businesses and organised by Angie Wilson and helpers, along with photographs on the night, raised a grand total of €505.

Lazy Persons Triathlon
The Lazy Persons Triathlon held of the 25th January was a wonderful success with the over all winner being Martin O'Conner-Cooper Second place went to Mike Burton and third to Ged Hoburn.
A big thank you to all the competitor and to Captain Jacks for hosting the final. We raised €120 on the day.

Santa Boxing Day Dip
We had a great turn out on a very sunny Boxing Day morning for the Santa Dip in aid of Saras Hope Foundation here on Crete. With the kind support of Rick and Sofia at Captain Jacks in Almyrida who laid on food, Raki and hot soup for everyone.
We raised a fantastic €165 on the day after purchasing the limited edition T Shirts and a further £185.51 via Just Giving on line. We are so please with the support we received from all our loyal supporters both in Crete and the UK

Vangellis Christmas Raffle
A massive thank you to this lovely lady Fiona Dickson for raising an incredible 238 Euro from Sara's Christmas Prize Draw at Vangelis. Thanks to everyone who kindly donated prizes, bought raffle tickets and came along to Vangelis on Christmas Eve for the draw. Delighted that a very special couple who are loyal supporters of the charity Diane and Brian Hankinson won the Christmas hamper

The presents left at the end of the night were distributed to a local school, the children were so happy.
The Santa at Plaka Square was going to be canceled, this would have disappointed a lot of the local children so Ged & Julie Hoburn decided to put the event on and make it a special day for the local children. All of the gifts were sponsored by Ged & Julie.

White Lady Christmas Lunch
On Sunday the 17th December Saras Hope Foundation held is Christmas Lunch at the White Lady Taverna in Rethymno.
As always we had a great time with Carols and music.
A fantastic €683 was raised from the auction and the raffle this will go towards the Charity running cost in Crete.
A very big thank you to all those who attended and gave so generously.
Ged Hoburn presents a donation to John Eardley of the Social Supermarket from monies raised at Sara's Rainbow Run.
Saras Rainbow Run is held every year to raise funds for Saras Hope Foundation. In 2017 we combined with the Social Supermarket to also help those families in Apokoronas that are in most need.
Dimitri and the Cotton Club in Georgiopolu raised a fantastic €400
for Saras Hope Foundation by selling "T" Shirts.
Dimitri is also an Ambassador for Saras Hope Foundation in recognition of the outstanding help he has shown to the visiting families.

After 5 years in remission Josh re visited Saras Hope Retreat
Josh stayed at Sara's Retreat two years ago with his mum and stepdad after completing his treatment for leukaemia ...It was his wish to teturn to celebrate his five years in remission and he realised his dream when he returned in September with his family .They had a fab time .revisited his favourite places and met old friends and made many new friends .He also ran in Sara' s Rainbow ran with his dad Neil which was a proud achievement.Josh said that his week at Sara's Retreat changed his life and gave him the confidence to move forward ...he now has a good job and a lovely girlfriend in the UK .A true star and a lovely and inspirational young man

Trevor & Yvie Bains raised over €3000 for the New Retreat Building fund
Yvie was sponsored to have her head shaved in aid of Saras Hope Foundation. This no mean act raised over €3000 and Yvie have asked that this goes towards the new retreat fund so as to help more families have that special time.

The Amazing UpHighs tour in September raise an incredible €2337
John and Matt returned to the island for the second time this year especially to perform for Sara. Over the six events Theuphighs performed to over 500 people and as always really did Sara's charity proud.It was extra special as two of Sara's families went to the shows .We are so proud to have John and Matt as ambassadors of the Foundation

In conjunction with LifeStyle Homes who are our chosen consultants for this very exciting project we have now acquired the plot of land for the construction of our New Retreat.
The contract is signed for the New Retreat
It has taken a long time getting to this point however we are now well on the way to achieving our goal of a New Custom Built Retreat in Crete for those children and families who need it the most.
Today 6th August the contract for the building of the New Retreat between Saras Hope Foundation and LifeStyle Homes has been signed. This makes a new beginning for Saras Hope Foundation in Crete and with the help of all our loyal supporters on the island we will achieve this very soon

The Uphighs Summer Tour in aid of Saras Hope Foundation
The amazing Uphighs started the Summer Tour on Crete with a fantastic night at the White Lady Fancy Rainbow Dress party on 1st June. As always the White Lady put on a great evening with the Uphighs performing all evening. The event was a sell and and supported by all our loyal fans and helpers in the Rethymno area. A big thanks to everyone who made this a truly memorable event.
Cameron & Arthur Raise £1000 on sponsored walk
Cameron and Lorraine his wife have been holidaying in Crete for 24 years and our two boys have enjoyed lots of great times there. Last year Cameron decided that after meeting Ged and Julie at one of Matt and John’s (The Uphighs) shows in the White Lady Taverna, that he would like to do something to raise money for Sara’s Hope Foundation so that other children could experience what our boys have had. Cameron and his friend Arthur decided that they would walk from Rethymnon Harbour to Fantastico Taverna and back down the mountain via Maroulas and Adele back to the White Lady. They completed the walk on Saturday (3/6/17) and were rewarded with a big beer and a warm welcome, as always, in the White Lady. We would like to thank all our family (home and abroad), friends and colleagues for their very generous sponsorship and to let you know that the boys raised £1000 for this great charity
£1000 Donation to the 400 Appeal from Cretan Corner Taverna
Sue Harris-Kokotsaki and her family and friends recently presented the charity with a cheque for £1000 which they kindly raised from raffles, and fund raising events .This cash is a pledge to Sara`s 400 Appeal which will help to purchase the property for Sara`s charity in the future
