Sunday 10th August 2008 - The Annual Family Sponsored Walk
Following the great success of last years event we have organised a sponsored walk from St Mary´s Lighthouse to Tynemouth. Last years event raised in excess of £6,000 and we plan to make this years event bigger and better, with face painting, a bouncy castle, a BBQ and perhaps a celebrity or two ?????? There will ba a certificate for everyone and a ´Fun bag´ for all of the children. We are hoping that this year will attract 200-300 people and that the Foundation will raise over £25,000 from the event.
We are delighted to announce that we have two very special guests to start this years event. Ethan Puvis, a very brave young man from Co.Durham, Ethan was diagnosed with cancer at the age of three and after a very traumatic couple of years he is now well on the road to a full recovery. Six year old Ethan and his parents will be arriving in style in a stretch limo at 11.45 am and he will be performing the open ceremony with Mr John Harrison the Elected Mayor of North Tyneside. Mr Harrison is very enthusiastic about the Foundation and has been a great supporter in the past.
The ´finish´ line of this years event is Percy Park Rugby Club, where there is a family fun day in store for everyone. Come along and have a go on the bouncy castle, children´s maze, sumo suits and face painting.......... there is also children´s games, ice creams (courtesy of Deleval Ices Whitley Bay) and sizzling burgers and sausages from the bbq. The adults are welcome to buy a cold drink in the bar. The general public are welcome from 1.30 pm.

Update
The Annual Family Sponsored Walk was a huge success with over 200 people turning up at St Mary´s Lighthouse. This years event was opened by the Elected Mayor of North Tyneside, Mr John Harrison, who kindly shared the honours with five year old Ethan Purvis from Co Durham. Ethan was diagnosed with leukaemia at the age of three and is such a brave and warm hearted young man. Ethan and his parents arrived in style in a stretched limo and cut the ribbon with Mr Harrison. This was a very special day as it marked the First Anniversary of The Sara´s Hope Foundation.
Despite a few showers everyone appeared to enjoy the day and the event finished at the Percy Park Rugby Club where the children and adults had a great time. Special thanks to Vin McDonald meat suppliers, Deleval Ices, Northumrian Water, Dreams Limousines and Percy Park for sponsoring the event. A million thanks to all those people who helped out on the day, and a big thank you to Ethan, his parents and Mr John Harrison.

Update
Well done to the brave 10 volunteers who jumped out of an aeroplane from 10,000 - 12,000 feet for the Sara´s Hope Foundation. What a fantastic achievement and a very emotional day. We had laughter, screams and tears.... but everyone DID IT !!! What a terrific bunch .......
The support and elation was wonderful and despite a long day the event was a terrific success. Quotes from the brave 10 were ´wow that was amazing´, ´bloody hell that was fantastic´, ´*!*!*! that was horrible´ and ´I would rather give birth to twenty kids in a row !!!!!!!´.
We are proud of each and every one of you and it was a day which will live in our memories forever.

Saturday 25th October 2008 - The Saras Hope Foundation Charity Ball
A limited number of tickets are now on sale for the Inaugural Saras Hope Foundation Charity Ball. This will be taking place at St James Park (home of Newcastle United Football Club) on the evening of Saturday 25th October 2008. Tickets are £40.00 per head (tables of ten). This will be a night to remember with entertainment provided by TV´s Ryan Philpott, a meal is also included in the price as well as an auction of signed celebrity memorabilia.

Update
Wow - what a night! This was possibly the biggest and most ambitious event that the Foundation have arranged to date and it was a huge success. Sarah Brodie did a fantastic job with organising the event and the night raised a magnificent £10,000. This was an extra special occasion as it marked Sara´s 24th birthday and we are sure Sara would have loved the night.
Ryan Philpott and David Keeling (TwanglingJack) provided the entertainment with ´Nostalgia The Gameshow´. A hilarious gameshow involving the whole audience, featuring rounds inspired by cult TV classics including ´Name That Tune´, ´Blankety Blank´, ´Record Breakers´ and many more. The guys were absolutely hilarious and had us all in stitches - Ryan also did so well in raising £3,500 on the night from the celebrity auction.
The atmosphere was electric and it was more like a party than a ´Ball´. There are so many people to thank, amongst them Lisa, Ali, Sara, Mark, Keith and Lyn and a special thank you to all those kind people who donated the fantastic auction and raffle prizes. Thanks also to Steven and Alf Taylor and the girls from Bad Lashes.

Update
Phew - What a brilliant weekend!!!!
Mark and I had a great time and wanted to say a big thank you to everyone for making it so special. It was great to see ´old friends´ and to meet so many lovely people for the first time. The thoughtfulness and kindness of my fellow Nelsonians never ceases to amaze me and this year was no exception. Bill´s support means so much to Saras charity and to our family. Bill is a very special person who is inspirational to us all and the support of Bill and my fellow Nelsonians is both heart warming and amazing.
Saturday was the first time that I heard ´A million whistling Milkmen´ and it was very emotional listening to this wonderful piece with so many loyal and kind friends. This fabulous track will be available to download next month (all proceeds going to the Ssras Hope Foundation) - the date will be announced very soon.
A million thanks to Jon and the Nelsonica team and to Bill, Stuart, Martin, Pete H, Ian C, Ian H and Eastwood Guitars for their kindness, raising over £1,000 with the Saras Hope Foundation auction lots - it was an extremely proud moment watching my son Mark play the Baritone guitar on the stage before it was auctioned.
Last but not least a special thank you to Emi, Bills mum and family and Jon Spence and the Rocketeers for making the day special. Thanks to everyone who attended and gave me so much support and cash donations. All in all the Foundation raised a magnificent £,350 from the event.
We also have a beautiful signed mounted photograph of Bill by Martin Bostock (kindly donated by Carol and Geno) which we will be auctioning very soon. The icing on the cake was a message Bill sent to Ged on his return "I´m pleased that I´ve been able to contribute something in some small way. What you are doing, what you HAVE done, is generous and compassionate. Sara, I´m sure, is so proud of you and your family. You´ve honoured her in such a positive and beautiful manner. I hope that Saras foundation will help many families who are suffering from the difficulties that the Foundation was set up to relieve. You´re a very special soul and an inspiration. Thanks for all your support of my music too".
